Vulture Space is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that provides the community with a hands-on bicycle workshop and recyclery in downtown Milwaukee, WI.
Our mission is to educate the community to use and maintain bicycles as transportation to help build a more sustainable and healthier environment.
Hands-On Workspace & Recyclery
Vulture Space provides hands-on workstations for the public to fix or maintain their bicycles. If needed, trained staff mechanics or volunteers will assist in diagnosing problems, providing the right tools, and explaining how to use those tools. All of this is free (but donations are greatly appreciated). Don’t worry, we won’t let you leave without washing your hands!
Our space also functions as a bicycle recyclery, i.e., a place to donate bicycles, bicycle parts, and anything else bicycle-related. Donated items are then inspected, cleaned, sorted, and available for purchase. We accept anything in any condition. Thank you!
All monetary and in-kind donations are tax deductible.
Full Service Bicycle Shop
We are also a full service nonprofit bike store. In other words, if you don’t want to get greasy, we’ll do it for you! You can pay a trained staff mechanic to fix your flat, oil your chain, replace / adjust whatever, and more. Plus, our staff mechanics and volunteers refurbish and re-sell bicycles to the community at affordable prices, as well as new and used bike parts and accessories.

Tune-ups include adjustments, part replacements, and accessory installations—all of which are handled immediately.
Prices are à la carte, meaning that we thoroughly inspect your bicycle and provide you with an itemized list of what should be adjusted, replaced, or cleaned. You’ll decide what you want from that list, and then we’ll text you when your bicycle is ready!
And YES, we have air for your tires!

We sell an enormous variety of used bicycles. Our dance floor is packed with hybrids, cruisers, road racers, trail riders, kids bikes, trikes, and sometimes unicycles. Bike sizes range from ‘lil balance bikes for toddlers up to frames to accommodate Giannis.
You can buy a bicycle in as-is condition and fix it up in our shop, or you can roll out on a bicycle that has already been fully refurbished.
Additionally, we sell a plethora of new and used bicycle parts and accessories. Anything from the necessities like lights, locks, helmets, bells and horns galore to grips and pedals in different colors, wheels and frames in all sizes, and so much more!

Rentals include a lock, lights, helmet, and directions.
Bicycles are $30 for the day, $70 for overnight. E-bikes are $50 for the day, $90 for overnight. Tandems are $50 for the day, $90 for overnight.

Why volunteer with us?
We offer a unique classroom-like setting for the public to learn how to fix and maintain their bicycles. Volunteers are an integral part of our workspace, as they help the shop refurbish donated bikes and assist others in fixing their own bikes. Volunteering at Vulture Space will help you gain better mechanical abilities, meet new friends, and make you feel warm inside for helping a great cause. Plus, we often have snacks to share!
